Eckert Seamens leads the charge. The Virginia Ground Source Heat Pump Association is excited to report that we have entered into an agreement to hire the lawfirm Eckert Seamens to represent us in our efforts with the Virginia Legislature. May Fox and Thomas List will lead what we hope will be a successful campaign. Our primary goal for the upcoming 2017 session (the session starts in January 2017) is to lobby for assistance for Virginia Residents, Business Owners & Home Builders who wish to install Geothermal systems. We hope to copy the recently passed South Carolina law H 3874 which gave the citizens of S.C. at 25% tax credit. http://www.achrnews.com/
articles/132063-south- carolina-approves-geothermal- tax-credit we will keep you ‘in the loop’ (pun intended) as the effort gathers steam.
Roll out meetings scheduled forJuly Virginia Ground Source Heat Pump Association members and non members alike are encouraged to come to one of the 4 ‘roll out’ meetings to bring everyone up to speed on the effort now underway to lobby for Assistance from the State.
We have a huge amount of work to do and need all of you to help. One of the most important things we need help organizing is taking many Senators and Delegates out to installations over the next 4 months. You can imagine the complexity of this effort but the Team that got the South Carolina 25% credit through to law this year are convinced that this is what put them over the top. When the legislators get to see a system in action (Saving Money and increasing Virginia’s Energy Security) meet a happy constituent (a Voter in their District) and meet the team that put it all together (all those jobs we could be loosing or adding to in the near future) it is the single most convincing factor in gaining their support.
